The Arthurian legend is a story of courtly love, among other things. What do you think makes this story timeless? What did you find most interesting about this text? Lancelot is willing to sacrifice himself for his queen and speaks of her as if she were absolutely pure, an ideal queen. He even offers his land and men to her should he die trying to escape. Gawain and his men staunchly express their disapproval to the king, but he does what must be done. Lancelot performed a classic, daring rescue of his lady, but killed Gawain's kin in the process. This is the start of their feud. I find this story interesting, because may aspects of the tale are still used in drama, today. I particularly notice similarities in what little I see of daytime soap operas and I can imagine that it might be played out in much the same style.
